Why Is My Vape Not Hitting? Common Reasons and Quick Fixes

Few things are more annoying than going for a hit and… nothing. Whether you’re using a pod system or a powerful sub-ohm device, a vape that won’t hit can ruin your experience and leave you wondering what went wrong. If your vape isn’t producing vapor—or isn’t even turning on—don’t worry. Most issues can be resolved with a quick check and a little know-how.

1. Dead Battery or Poor Connection

Let’s start with the basics: is your battery charged? If your device isn’t powering on or isn’t responding to your button presses or puffs, it could be fully drained. Try plugging it in with a known working charger. If the battery is charged but still not working, there could be a connection issue. Remove the tank or pod and check the contact points—if there's dust, e-liquid residue, or corrosion, gently clean them with a dry cotton swab.

2. Misfiring Due to Safety Lock or Button Error

Many devices have five-click on/off features or safety lockouts. Double-check that the device is powered on by clicking the fire button rapidly five times. If it still isn’t responding, make sure you’re not accidentally holding a locked button combination.

3. Burnt or Flooded Coil

A burnt-out coil can stop your vape from hitting properly. You may hear a slight crackle but get no vapor—or a foul taste. If your coil is burnt or old, swap it out for a new one. On the flip side, a flooded coil (too much e-liquid saturating it) can block airflow and reduce vapor production. To fix this, remove the coil and gently blow through it or tap the tank upside down on a paper towel to drain the excess liquid.

4. Airflow Blockages

Clogged airflow channels or a blocked mouthpiece can stop vapor from coming through. Remove the mouthpiece and check for buildup or condensation. Clean it with warm water and let it dry completely before reassembling.

5. Sensor Issues in Auto-Draw Devices

If you’re using a draw-activated pod system (no fire button), the pressure sensor might not be triggering. This can happen if e-liquid gets inside the sensor area or the pod isn’t seated correctly. Remove the pod, dry the connectors, and reinsert it with a firm click. Still no luck? Try a fresh pod.

6. Check the Coil or Pod Installation

A coil or pod that’s not properly clicked into place may prevent your device from detecting it. Remove and reseat the coil or pod until it’s fully secured.

If you’ve run through all these steps and still aren’t getting a hit, it might be time to bring your device into K Town Vape in Kennesaw, Georgia. Our team can test your setup, suggest replacement parts, or help you upgrade to something more reliable.
