Keeping your vape clean isn't just about looks—it’s essential for great flavor, longer-lasting coils, and a smoother vaping experience. Whether you're rocking a pod system or a full tank setup, regular cleaning prevents gunk buildup, sticky residue, and burnt taste from ruining your sessions. Here's how to clean your vape the right way, using simple steps and basic tools you probably already have at home.
Start by disassembling your device. Remove the tank from the battery or mod, and if you're using a coil-based tank, take the coil out too. (If the coil is old or burnt, now’s the perfect time to replace it.) Empty out any remaining e-liquid from the tank and set the battery aside—you never want to submerge anything with electronics.
Next, rinse the tank parts (glass, mouthpiece, etc.) under warm water. If there's stubborn residue or sticky e-juice, let the parts soak in warm water with a little dish soap or even vodka for about 15-20 minutes. Avoid using harsh chemicals or scrubbing anything too aggressively. After soaking, use a cotton swab or soft cloth to gently clean any remaining residue, then rinse again thoroughly with water.
Now it’s time to dry all components. Let them air dry on a paper towel or lint-free cloth. Make sure everything is completely dry before reassembling to prevent leaks and short circuits. Never reinstall parts while they’re still damp—moisture and electricity don’t mix.
As for your coil, if it’s a replaceable type (like in most tanks), it’s best not to clean it—once it’s gunked up, it should be swapped out. However, if you're using a rebuildable coil setup, you can carefully rinse the coil and dry burn it (pulse your mod at a low wattage to burn off residue) before re-wicking it.
To maintain peak performance, we recommend deep cleaning your vape weekly, especially if you're changing flavors or using sweet, sugary e-liquids that gunk up coils faster. And of course, if you're ever unsure about how to clean your specific device, bring it into K Town Vapor—we’re always happy to show you how it’s done!
